Our story

About Zakhrafa

Zakhrafa began with a love of wood and colour.

What started as hand-painting and carving for the pleasure of it grew, piece by piece, into a small workshop where raw wood is turned into something worth keeping.

Every panel, mirror and decorative piece is still shaped entirely by hand. Patterns are drawn on rather than printed, and colour is built up in layers, so no two pieces are ever quite the same — the small differences are the point.

What we make

Wood, turned into art

The work draws on Egypt's decorative traditions — arabesque patterning, ancient Egyptian motifs, the geometry of old mashrabiya screens — and puts them on pieces meant to be lived with rather than looked at from a distance.

Alongside the pieces shown here, much of what leaves the workshop is made to order for a particular room, in a particular size and palette.
